Everyone knows consistency matters in marketing.
Post regularly. Keep your brand visible. Stay front of mind.
All good advice.
But consistency can create another problem if you’re not careful: content fatigue.
If every post looks the same, covers the same subject or follows the same format, your audience can quickly start scrolling past it. And if you’re the person responsible for producing that content, constantly finding something new to say can become exhausting too.
The answer isn’t to stop.
It’s to mix things up.
Consistency doesn’t mean repetition
For estate agents, there’s an obvious and constant source of content: properties.
New instruction. Property tour. Just listed. Open house. Sold.
Property content is important. It’s what you do, and people following an estate agency expect to see homes.
But it shouldn’t be all they see.
If every piece of content is another property tour, you risk only being relevant when someone is actively looking for a home.
A broader content strategy gives people more reasons to engage with you – including the homeowners who aren’t moving today but could become tomorrow’s vendors.
Think about what else you know.
What’s happening to prices locally? Are properties taking longer to sell? What are buyers asking for? What mistakes are sellers making? What’s happening in the rental market? Is legislation changing? What’s happening in the community?
Suddenly, you’ve moved from simply showing people what you’re selling to demonstrating what you know.
Give people different reasons to notice you
Different content does different jobs.
A property tour showcases your marketing. A market update demonstrates expertise. A short advice video answers a consumer question. A case study provides evidence of how you helped somebody. A podcast allows a more detailed conversation. Community content reinforces your local credentials.
Short-form video might introduce someone to your brand for the first time, while a longer YouTube video gives them an opportunity to spend more time with you.
You don’t have to choose one – the strength comes from the mix.
It also means you’re not asking your audience to engage with the same type of message every time you appear in their feed.
Frequency still matters
Content fatigue shouldn’t become an excuse to disappear.
The reality of digital marketing is that people are exposed to an enormous volume of information every day. If you only appear occasionally, it’s difficult to build familiarity.
Someone might see one of your videos and think it’s useful. Then they see another. A few weeks later, they come across your market commentary. Later still, a friend shares something you’ve appeared in.
Over time, your name becomes familiar.
And that matters in property because consumers don’t necessarily need your service at the moment they encounter your marketing.
The objective is to have built enough familiarity that when they do need an agent, your brand is already somewhere in their mind.
Your content doesn’t always have to start on your platform
This is where we think property businesses can broaden their approach.
There’s a natural tendency to think your content strategy means everything has to be created for and published by your own channels.
It doesn’t.
Appearing on an established third-party platform can introduce your people and expertise to an audience you may not currently reach yourself.
You can then reshare and repurpose that appearance through your own channels.
That gives you something genuinely different to talk about.
Rather than another piece of content saying we’re the local experts, you can share an interview, market discussion, podcast or video where you’re being asked for your expertise by somebody else.
There’s an important distinction.
Third-party platforms can provide additional reach, but they can also add context and credibility to what you’re saying.
Let your expertise become the content
This is a big part of the thinking behind Move iQ.
We’re not simply creating more content for the sake of filling another social media calendar.
We can create opportunities for property professionals to contribute to content on Move iQ platforms, putting their knowledge, properties and people in front of a property-focused consumer audience.
That might mean appearing as a local market expert, joining a podcast conversation, contributing to an educational video, showcasing a property or working with us on professionally produced content.
The original appearance lives within the Move iQ environment, but it also creates something you can talk about and share through your own marketing.
One piece of content can therefore work in several places rather than being published once and forgotten.
Take some of the pressure off
There’s another benefit.
Maintaining a consistent content programme takes time.
Ideas have to be generated. People need to be filmed. Videos need editing. YouTube content needs packaging properly. Social versions need creating. And then the whole process starts again.
Working with a media partner can take some of that burden away while introducing formats and opportunities that would be difficult to recreate internally.
It also helps break the cycle of wondering: what are we going to post this week?
Instead, you can build a rhythm around different types of content and different platforms.
Be consistent without becoming predictable
The goal isn’t to produce more and more.
It’s to create enough variety that your audience has different reasons to keep noticing you.
Show the properties – But also show the people.
Share the successes – But also share the knowledge behind them.
Talk about your business – But also appear in conversations happening beyond your own channels.
Consistency keeps you visible. Variety keeps you interesting.
